The basic parts of all e-cigs are similar, from a basic “mini e-cig”, or the simple disposable electronic cigarettes designed to look and feel like a real smoke, to mod boxes and mechanical mods. However, choosing the right electronic cigarette atomizers can make a big difference in your vaping experience in several different ways.
For those new to vaping and using e-cigs, the terms can sometimes be confusing. To make things simple consider the three separate parts of an e-cig. These include the battery, the atomizer and the cartridge. All electronic cigarette atomizers work as the main component of the e-cig, but they require the e-liquid from the cartridge and the power from the battery to produce the heat that creates vapor.
How it Works
Electronic cigarette atomizers screw into or attach to the battery directly. There are different systems in place that sense the inhalation and open the circuit that allows the power from the battery to instantly heat the coil inside the atomizer and create the vapor.
With mechanical mods, the user manually controls this process and has to push a button to connect the circuit, and then release the button to stop the coils from continuing to heat.
Within the atomizer there is a wick, which is usually made of cotton. This absorbs the e-liquid from the cartridge, or the tank, and maintains a constant saturation. Some people prefer to use a drip tip, which allows the e-juice to flow directly to the atomizer, but this requires skill to avoid running the wick dry.
All electronic cigarette atomizers not on mechanical mods have failsafe overrides to prevent overheating, or to shut down the connection between the battery and the atomizer if there are any issues with unsafe voltage or power.
Cleaning
There are several different methods for cleaning electronic cigarette atomizers, but soaking in hot water is often the easiest. This should be done between each flavor of e-juice to prevent ghosting, or having residual flavor combinations that can be unpleasant.
As people become more aware of the techniques used in vaping, they may switch to different electronic cigarette atomizers that allow rebuilding or customization. It is always a good idea to do research into vaping safety before using mechanical mods or trying to adjust batteries, atomizers and power.
Most top quality electronic cigarette atomizers will last one to two months, but this will vary based on the types of e-liquids use and the amount vaped. Low vapor production or poor taste is often a sign the atomizer needs cleaning or replacing. At Mt. Baker Vapor we have electronic cigarette atomizers for all popular brands of e-cigs as well as for do-it-yourselfers.
